When using the drawing production tools and selecting the option to create the drawing in a separate dgn file there is no way of updating the annotation groups in the resulting drawing file. This seems like a completely flawed workflow as you are stuck with whatever annotations you output at the time of creating the drawing.
When using this separate dgn option it would be beneficial for the user to be able to edit the annotation groups and re-annotate within the produced drawing file. Currently, to get this functionality the user has to create the sheets and then export them to separate drawings using the last mile utilities plugin.
On 99% of our jobs we have to have each drawing within its own file making the current drawing production automation almost useless and we resort to creating the drawings the 'old-fashioned' way and building them manually.

When processing Named Boundaries towards Sheet creation the current options cause "decay" to OpenX Civil's Drawing Annotation and ProjectWise more specifically.
The options should be simple:
Default (Default, Drawing, and Sheet models all in one file) - exists today, can't change this.
One Sheet per File (Sheet and Drawing models are carried to a file and referenced to Default model) - exists today, can't change this.
One Sheet ONLY per File (Sheet models are carried to files and referenced to Drawing & Default model) - proposed addition which would solve the problem yet to be resolved.
By keeping the Drawing models with the Default you can run the Drawing model annotation across all models (very efficient and the original intent).
By separating the Sheet models to one per file you can leverage ProjectWise TitleBlock and other functionalities (very efficient and the original intent).
UPDATE: I have used the Cross_Section_Annotation_Batch_Processer.MVBA successfully, though it is a bit clunky requiring the MVBA to step through each sheet.dgn. It requires the user to provide 3 clicks per sheet.dgn, 1-to delete current annotations, 2-to annotate all design models, 3-to accept the override annotation group. More clicks if making changes in the process.
I have also provided some suggestions back to Tim Grimm who authored the MVBA for some possible upgrades.
This link is to the BE Communities page where you can download the MVBA if you do not have it and see the initial suggestions I just posted.

I WAS doing this recently, after I found the LastMileUtilites on the BE Communities. It has a function to extract models out to single DGN files.
So I processed XS into the active file, all the models. Then extracted the sheet models to single DGNs each, which retained the reference to the original file with the drawing models. Made drawing model updates easy.
But now the utility has stopped working for us. It needs to allow some selection boxes to pick seeds, etc. because that seems to be breaking the program.
Also FYI, there is a MVBA in ORD that will open and process a selection of DGN files to update drawing models in the DGN files, though I have not had to try it yet. Cross_Section_Annotation_Batch_Processor
Add it as an idea
Will it be possible in future versions of ORD to have one single design file and see all cross sections on this design file.(Like old way) If not why ? For us, it was way more efficient to see all sections in one design file to understand and explain the projet.
I discussed this with the Bentley consultant who assisted you. He suggested the name.
I think this post has been renamed incorrectly. The post is referring to a workflow in which the drawing and sheet models are together in a file. So one file will contain both a single drawing model and single sheet model. If this workflow is followed the user is unable to edit annotation groups after drawing creation.
Completely agree. In addition conposite file are too heavy and taking ages to be opened specially from projectwise.
isnt this about having all Drawing Models in a single DGN (as per normal), but only getting the Sheets created in seperate DGNs?
Renaming title from "Edit annotation groups after drawing creation."
